Forgive me this intrusion in English, but unfortunately I don't speak
Danish... :( I know the whole "Olsen" series is available on DVD as a
boxed set in Denmark, but as far as I can tell, none of the discs in
that version has any optional English subtitles, right...? Would anyone
happen to know if there are any plans to release a subtitled version of
the series, too? I have the series on old VHS now and I'd love to
finally have it in a proper format. but I would prefer it in a version I
could understand without relying on what I remember from those tapes...
A local distributor I'd asked claimed they intend to license a
release of the older series on DVD here (the "Junior" film already
being available), but the planned date is late 2005 at best, and it's
quite long... I'd definitely be interested if an English version came
out in the meantime... :) Thanks in advance for any information.

Hmm... tough call. Perhaps you could contact the company making them
available on DVD, which is Nordisk Film - http://www.nordiskfilm.dk/

Considering that the Danish movie industry has been moaning about
lack of recognition abroad for years one can't help wondering why
so few titles are released with foreign language subtitles.
Narrow-minded distributors I guess.

When I enquired about english subs on "Blinkende Lygter" (gift
for a friend in the UK) the sales clerk gave me a bewildered look
and said "Why would you want that? The dialouge is in Danish."
