The following text is about the topic titrations. I have before worked with titrations in chemistry, but I have never worked with titrations in two subjects. I work, in this exercise, with two subjects; chemistry and mathematics. I have chosen the topic, because I want a better understanding of the co-operation between chemistry and mathematics. I have in chemistry made three titrations with three widely different acids. I have compared these titrations with the mathematical titrations, which I have made with the help of a computer program called ti-interactive. The mathematical titrations are made from the different formulas from the world of chemistry, and that is why I have achieved a better understanding of the co-operation between the two subjects.

The exercise begins with a statement of general acids and base theory, where I touch on the definition of an acid and a base. I also refer to the methods you can use to find the pH-value. I will also explain something about titrations. It is of course obvious, because titrations are my topic.

I explain, in the mathematical part of the theory, how I have made an emission of the pH-values and how I have made the titration curves.

I also explain, in the end of the exercise, the appearance of the titration curves – both chemically and mathematically.
