Til de af jer der har købt GPSMap 162 - og mangler søkort !!
Dear Mr. Rasmussen,
Thank you for contacting the GARMIN cartography department.
We assume that your inquiry is about availability of what it will be called
Atlantic MapSource BlueChart CD-ROM. This CD-ROM was originally scheduled
for release in October 2001, we are sorry to say that the release has been
pushed back to December 2001 for higher production priorities. In general
production schedules may slide several weeks, not just for GARMIN but for
any software manufacturer, and electronic charts indeed fall in the software
category.
Also as a reminder, the 162 isn't currently BlueChart compatible, but a
formal upgrade request has already been started to our Engineering
department in the USA, to make this model BlueChart compatible, when the
BlueChart CD-ROMs will be available. When the update will be available, it
will be a software update downloadable on the "Downloads" page of our
website.
The 162 will accept BlueCharts only through CD-ROM download and the memory
is limited to 2.5 Mbytes.
We can assure you that we never promised the Atlantic MapSource BlueChart
CD-ROM for August. What you may have heard is that the "Bluecharts" for
Europe were scheduled for release in August, which we have done, in the
format of pre-programmed cards, for plotter models such as the 176, 176C,
182, 188, 232, 238, 2006 and 2010
As additional information on the Atlantic MapSource BlueChart CD-ROM, this
CD-ROM will work with Unlock Technology. It will cover all of Europe,
Africa and Middle East and contain several zones. The end-user will be able
to unlock one or more zone, using an unlock code received by GARMIN. Zones
will be clearly listed in the CD-ROM cover documentation.

have.
Thank you again for your inquiry.

Laura
