There is, however, a difference between the Danish rule-obeyance and
that in the UK, at least in my observation.

The Scandinavian peoples are the most law abiding and conformist I
have ever come across in my travels. They obey the law, not because
of any higher purpose in doing so or to avoid the consequences of
disobeying the law, but because it doesn't occur to them to break the
law.

UK people are also law-abiding, but for a different reason. They
know that once a law is pronounced, the efficient civil service,
local authorities, police and other relevant bodies will enforce it
to the letter. So it is not in one's interests to go against the
rules as one will have to pull down the extension which one built
without planning permission. So a culture of grumbling acceptance of
the law prevails.

To contrast with these approaches, in some more southerly European
countries the rule seems to be that one breaks the law unless one has
been explicitly warned, in this instance, not to.

Ja, det passer i hvert fald ikke på folk som Peter Brixtofte, eller
politiker-bønder der ikke kan finde ud af at overnatte nok antal nætter på
gården, og i stedet sniger sig til at overnatte i lejligheden i København ...
