"Prolific American character actor Brion James died on August 7th, 1999,
just a few days after finishing the shooting of this movie in Africa.
Ironically, his character is the first that the audience sees collapsing of
illness in this film. James is best known perhaps for one of his earliest
roles, as the replicant, Leon, in 1982's Blade Runner. That film began with
Leon talking to a psychoanalyst who described a hypothetical situation of
Leon walking in a desert, finding a tortoise, who he then turns over on its
shell, to bake and burn in the sun. Such a sensation is what we might say we
get from this fourth Dogme film by Kristian Levring, The King is Alive. "
