Hej,
Hi,
I just installed MD9.0 without KDE...Then searched the web for info on how
to install KDE 3.1. I found the easiest way was to use urpmi with texstar as
chosen from this website:
http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon
This sets up the Texstar in the RPMDrake base right?
Now...the commandline I get runs ok and, again, via the web I know that I
have to issue:
urpmi kdebase
-which installs KDE 3.1. No problems...but hey...I dont understand it :)
1. Why kdebase?
Why do I issue "urpmi kdebase" ? Theres no RPM by that name in the texstar
dir. There are a couple that looks like it, but no "kdebase.rpm". How does
it know which RPM to start with?
2. Future upgrades
Now the installation of KDE3.1 by this method is very "basic"...if I want to
add say kdegames, what do I then issue? "urpmi kdegames"?
3. Language
Im from Denmark and of course I want DK language now that it is
available...do I just issue:
urpmi <languagefile>.rpm?
4. Final question :)
Suppose I download ALL rpm's in the texstar dir....and then issue:
urpmi *
As I understand it, I then specify to install all RPMs in that
directory..right? But what does urpmi do with the RPM's that allready _is_
installed? installs them again or jumps over so to speak....:)
-Oh btw: How does urpmi know that it should process the files in the
directory and not search for "*" (or whatever) in the other urls/dirs ?
Thx for your time,
/TH
