XFree86 på bærbar vil ikke ændre opløs~

Jeg har en Dell Inspiron 4000 med ATI mobility m3(scanpci skriver godt
nok "rage 128 mobility mf") grafikkort.
Jeg kører Slackware 8.1 med X 4.2.0 og kernel 2.4.20-pre3. Der er ingen
problemer med at få X til at køre i 1400x1050(panelets
hardwareopløsning), men jeg kan kun få det til at virke i lavere
opløsninger. Jeg skal bruge lavere opløsninger for at få tv-out(atitvout
0.4) til at virke. Jeg har forsøgt at rode lidt med Modes og Modelines,
men det har ikke hjulpet noget. Jeg har også prøvet at installere
X 4.2.99.4, men det hjalp ikke.

Er der nogen, der har en ide om hvad jeg skal gøre?

Jeg troede det virkede, men det gjorde det ikke. :(
Det skifter godt nok opløsning, jeg kan kun skifte mellem 1400x1050 og
1280x1024. Måske skal jeg bare glæde mig til der kommer en ny driver...
