Standard reply of newsgroup dk.penge.investering
To keep the discussion in this newsgroup as businesslike and factual
as possible, I have chosen to write this standad reply, which will be
sent to everyone who has misunderstod the purpose of the newsgroup
dk.penge.investering (dk.money.investment) . The standard reply will
be sent both to those who unknowingly and knowingly sends an
off-topic posting to dk.penge.investering . This means that forms of
marketing (except signatures), missposts and the like will receive
this standard reply. Please note that this standard reply will not be
sent if aspects of netiquette, other than off-topic postings, are
violated. Misuse of signatures, bad quoting and he like will thus not
result in a standard reply being sent.
Before the standard reply was formulated and taken into use in
dk.penge.investering, a notice was posted about the plans for
creating a standard reply, with a call for debate. The entire thread
of the debate can be read on the following pages (in Danish only).
When the standard reply is mailed to a poster, I indicate it in
the newsgroup by replying publically to the posting with a
"dk.penge.investerings standardsvar afsendt" ("dk.money.investment
standard reply sent") plus the URL to this page for those who does
not know what the standard reply is. It is thus possible for others
to voice their opinion about whether it was or was not relevant to
send the standard reply to the poster.
For general information on the use of the Danish usenet (newsgroups/
discussion groups) please refer to

This standard reply is much inspired by the dk.erhverv (dk.business)
standard reply written by SEJ:
http://www.isa.dknet.dk/~sej/erhverv.html . (In Danish)

About: Misguided use of dk.penge.investering
(The name of the group means dk.money.investment)
It happens frequently, here in dk.penge.investering, that posts appear
which are not about the topic of the newsgroup. These posts are often
advertisements of various goods and services (including charities).
Such posts will, in the short term, make the newsgroup uninteresting
for new users. In the long run it will dillute the usefulness of the
group.
It is possible that dk.penge.investering, due to the fact that penge
(money) is part of the name, induces the notion that it is allowed
and accepted to post advertisements / make commercial postings.
This is not the case (except for the signature, which per standard
usenet convention allows any poster up to 4x72 characters of totally
free and unrestricted expression). This newsgroup is for discussion
of various ways and methods of investment, in this way it is a forum
for exchange of experiences and knowlege between the participants.
Here is an excerpt from the OTA (Oplæg Til Afstemning - corresponds
roughly to a "Call For Votes") which preceded the creation of the
newsgroup (the full version can be found on
http://www.usenet.dk
- in Danish only):
One can discuss all things related to the investment in stocks/
secutiries, real estate, raw materials, futures and bonds.
Advertisement for stock brokers and investment projects are unwanted.
Spam and everything else not related to investments is unwanted.
According to standard netiquette, and the terms-of-use of most Danish
(and international) Internet Service Providers (ISPs), the above
"fundats" (charter) must be respected. Any violation of the fundats
will be seen as abuse of the group and can lead to a complaint being
sent to the ISP of the abuser.
If you want to discuss the appropriateness of this post, please do so
in the dk.penge.investering newsgroup under the original thread.
